Outer hip pain

Trochanteric bursitis embolization.

A minimally invasive option for persistent pain on the outside of the hip, including trochanteric bursitis and greater trochanteric pain syndrome.

What it is

Calming chronic outer hip pain.

Persistent pain over the outside of the hip often comes from inflamed tendons and bursa near the greater trochanter. Over time, that inflammation can be sustained by abnormal small blood vessels.

Embolization targets those vessels with a thin catheter and microscopic particles, using the same approach as for knee and hip arthritis.

Who it can help

Who it can help.

Outer hip pain that has lasted months despite rest, physical therapy or injections
Pain that makes it hard to lie on your side, climb stairs or walk distances
People looking for an option that does not involve surgery
What to expect

From consultation to recovery.

01 / Consultation

We review your symptoms, past treatments and imaging, and talk through whether embolization is right for you.

02 / Procedure day

Through a pinhole in the skin, a thin catheter is guided under live X-ray to the arteries feeding the inflamed tissue. Tiny particles slow that blood flow. You are awake but comfortable with light sedation.

03 / Recovery

You go home within a few hours, and we follow up to track your progress.
