Women's health / UFE

Uterine fibroid embolization.

A uterus-sparing, minimally invasive treatment for symptomatic fibroids and adenomyosis. No incision, and a much faster recovery than surgery.

What it is

Shrink fibroids. Keep your uterus.

Fibroids and adenomyosis can cause heavy or prolonged periods, pelvic pain and pressure, bloating, and frequent urination.

Uterine fibroid embolization (also called uterine artery embolization) reduces the blood supply to fibroids or adenomyosis. Deprived of that blood flow, fibroids shrink and soften, and symptoms improve, while the uterus is left in place.

Women who want to avoid hysterectomy or keep their uterus
Women looking for a faster recovery than surgery offers
What to expect

From consultation to recovery.

01 / Consultation

We review your symptoms and pelvic imaging, talk through your goals, including future pregnancy plans, and coordinate with your gynecologist.

02 / Procedure day

Through a pinhole in the skin, a thin catheter is guided to both uterine arteries, and tiny particles reduce blood flow to the fibroids or adenomyosis. You are awake but comfortable with light sedation.

03 / Recovery

You go home within a few hours. Some cramping afterward is common and is managed with medication, and we follow up to track your progress.

Results

Relief that builds over months.

Most women notice lighter periods within the first few cycles after treatment, and fibroids continue to shrink over the following months.

Because the uterus stays in place, UFE avoids the longer recovery of hysterectomy or myomectomy.
